The Summer issue of Canadian Children’s Book News celebrates families of all different shapes and sizes! In this issue we look at the different types of families represented in recent Canadian children’s books, as well as the importance of grandparents in Indigenous children’s literature. Authors Kevin Sylvester and Ted Staunton, who both recently wrote books with their children, share what it was like and how they survived it all.
We have a profile of illustrator Brooke Kerrigan, who has children’s books are in her blood, and introduce you to Saumiya Balasubramaniam in our Keep Your Eye On column. Our Bookmark column features 16 wonderful Canadian children’s books that reflect the different types of families there are, and, as always, we have over 40 reviews of recent books for you to add to your summer reading list!
